Delegate Bob Thomas Receives 2019 Delegate of the Year Award from the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Today, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce recognized Delegate Robert M. “Bob” Thomas, Jr. (R-Stafford) as the 2019 “Delegate of the Year” for his pro-business leadership and legislative record benefiting Fredericksburg’s regional economy during the 2019 General Assembly session. This marks Delegate Thomas’ second consecutive award from the Chamber after his “Rookie of the Year” Award in 2018.

“Each year, our members are facing challenges such as traffic gridlock, the need for a skilled workforce, rising healthcare costs, and other issues that limit their ability to support and grow our regional economy,” said Susan Spears, President and CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber. “The Chamber takes an active role in supporting our members by advocating on these issues. By recognizing Delegate Thomas, we show him that the business community is paying attention and that we will continue to be supporters of pro-business policies that benefit our region.”

As the voice of the business community, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce’s legislator awards are the best indication of a legislator who values businesses and free enterprise.

“As a small business owner, I understand the challenges facing our business community. Reducing congestion on our roads, investing in education, supporting economic development in our region, and promoting our local businesses continue to be top legislative priorities of mine,” said Thomas. “I am grateful for the Fredericksburg Chamber’s recognition, and I will continue to support our shared values in Richmond to get positive results for our region.”

The award was presented at the Chamber’s 2019 Legislative Review held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Also during the Legislative Review, the Chamber recognized Senator Bryce Reeves as their 2019 “Senator of the Year” and recapped the Virginia General Assembly as well as the Chamber’s key policy positions.

Thomas represents the 28th House District, which includes parts of Stafford County and Fredericksburg City. Thomas is currently serving his first term in the Virginia House of Delegates after six years serving the George Washington District on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.
